If there’s one thing we all should have learned from the pandemic, it’s the value of getting outside for a walk and fresh air. My hometown of Davis, CA has miles of safe and pleasant greenbelt pathways that begs for you to get outside and get moving!. Our Zoom fitness classes helps to keep us connected and maintain our fitness, but, I hope that we don’t become too complacent being indoors most of the day on our digital devices and rarely getting sunlight on our face. If so, we’re missing out on one of the most accessible ways to improve our health and well-being. There’s also the mood boost and the special bond that arises when we go for walks or hikes with friends in our community.

As a longtime runner and coach for Davis Fleet Feet training groups I’ve covered just about every mile of greenbelt in Davis, so I believe I’m well-versed in providing you good information of my favorite walks and hikes around Davis. My taste for adventure has also taken me off the beaten path and onto trails in areas near Davis that I hope will entice you to explore beyond your familiar neighborhood walks. I’ve provider distance and links to maps of each walk below so that you can easily navigate the location, but nothing is set in stone. Choose your own distance and try to approach each walk as an adventure to explore different routs and terrain, and don’t forget to mix it up by changing your pace or stepping onto a trail to negotiate uneven terrain. Since I live in South Davis, I’ll start with one of my regular walks and runs near my house.
